The art and science of fountain pens and ink

Visconti Skeleton and Demonstrators

While I can’t afford the Mont Blanc Skeleton [for now anyway :~)], I am fortunate to own three Viscontis pictured below – A skeleton version, the Voyager demonstrator and the Van Gogh turtle demonstrator. Each is spectacular in their own way. The combination of the amazing colours of ink that are available today with the ripple effect of the skeleton and translucence of the pen barrels and caps are really something to behold!

The skeletonizing of fountain pens originated with watchmakers who applied this technique to the back of timepieces.
